  5. Dear Jon North,

Mark Twain once said, "Loyalty to Petrified opinion never broke a chain or freed a human soul."

Thank you for freeing mine, both in your writing and your training videos. Being someone who lives on a small peninsula in eastern canada the only means of weightlifting coaching are those who have done the CrossFit Level 1 cert. which teaches you the Medball clean and a PVC high elbow, shrug and get under, which is a total of 20 minutes. I was fortunate to meet someone from Cal Strength who taught me what they knew about the hit and catch. I put up some mean weights (relatively)... yet i was criticized for it, I was told I was wrong over and over and over again... although I was putting up more than 20 kg more than them and was close to half their size. I was getting discouraged until I stumbled across some of the best coaching videos of you. You're informal nonlinear paradigms resonated deep with me. You're a mentor, an innovator, an inspiration. Thank you for the things that make you who you are.
Yell at the top of your lunges, smoke that bar like every hater is living in it and shatter it. knock them out. Slam that bar so hard it makes the earth shake. I hope to see you soon, I hope to learn from your experiences. I hope you get to read this.

Thank you, You'll never be unoriginal to me.

  7. Well done.

I believe the bar is neither your friend nor your foe. Rather, it is your brother.

You love it and you hate it. You can't stand it but you could't live without it. It beats you down and makes you feel like shit; but it does so to make you better and stronger. It is there for your triumphs and for your defeats. The bar is definitely a brother.

  8. If only more people could see this, and realize that weightlifting isn't limited to meatheads and guidos. This is the stuff of genuine literature, realism at it's purest

  9. Very boss. This site makes me happy every time I come to it before or after I train in my basement.
